Holy Cross Knitting Club Donates Hats to Bayhealth Cancer Center
Bayhealth’s Cancer Center recently received a donation of 180 hats from the Holy Cross (HCS) Knitting Club.
The HCS Knitting Club has 26 members who all worked together to knit the hats, which were donated for Bayhealth Cancer Center patients. The club was started by Holy Cross students Reagan Garnsey and Montana Johannsen in 2014 after Garnsey received knitting supplies as a Christmas gift. The students decided to start the club as a way for them and other Holy Cross students to spend time together while knitting for a good cause.
The club first donated to Bayhealth in March 2014 and has made other donations since, including last year when it donated 150 hats, scarves and head wraps in honor of Heart Month. The HCS Knitting Club has continued its efforts and expanded its donations over the last few years to include children in the foster care system, deployed military members and the homeless population.
