Robert P. Kannengieser, life of the party
Robert P. Kannengieser, 88, of Millsboro, and formerly of Long Island, N.Y., Scottsdale, Ariz., and Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, gently in the care of his family and the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Lillian and Alphonse Kannengieser. He was married to his beloved wife, Alice, who preceded him.
Robert was a veteran of both World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired as assistant postmaster of Medford, N.Y., and was a life member of the VFW Post 2937, also in Medford. He served two terms as post commander. He was also a 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was always the comedian, and life of the party. He loved to be laughing. He lived a full life, and will be laid to rest with the love of his life, Alice.
He is survived by his son: Robert E. Kannengieser; and his daughter: Alice M. Videlock and son-in-law: Michael. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kerri Beth, Colin and Ryan as well as extended family members and friends.
Local arrangements are private with interment in Calverton National Cemetery in Riverhead, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
