March 7, 2018

At its Feb. 12 meeting, the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church unanimously voted  to hire the Rev. Dr. Douglas L. Griffin as interim pastor. Griffin is an intentional interim pastor who will assist congregations during their search period for a full-time pastor. He has had extensive experience dealing with the preparations of mission statements, church analysis and the many tasks facing congregations in transition.

Griffin, from New Castle Presbytery, PCUSA, is also an intentional interim pastor with the Central Atlantic Conference, United Church of Christ. He received his doctoral degree from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.; his master’s degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich.; and his bachelor of arts from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Md.

He has focused on working with the congregations and sessions to implement agreed-upon priorities for a number of churches in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. He and his wife Susan live in Smyrna. They have two adult, married sons, and five grandchildren. He began his service March 5, and he will preach at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, March 11. Westminster members welcome Griffin, and invite all to greet him at the Room for All church in Rehoboth. Westminster Presbyterian Church is at 301 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
