Jack of Diamonds will bring the spirit back to Dewey Beach at 8:30 p.m., Saturday Aug. 20, for the second annual Stone Balloon Revival in the Baycenter. Ed Shockley, Dave Derr, Dave Sibert and Andy King will unite for the first time in four years to headline the show. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $25 and can be purchased at BaycenterDewey.com.
Dewey was the “Dodge City” referenced in the Jack of Diamonds’ most recognizable song from the early 1980s. The Dewey “State Of Mind” was also borrowed from the same song. Jack of Diamonds was Delaware’s most popular band during its eight-year run from 1977-83. The group played regularly from Richmond, Va., to NYC, and locally enjoyed long tenures at The Bottle & Cork in Dewey and The Back of the Rack in Ocean City, Md.
The Stone Balloon was an iconic bar and concert hall in Newark for more than 30 years. This is the second year that Dewey Beach Enterprises has produced a Stone Balloon revival show in the Baycenter. Also appearing will be a reunion of another iconic local band, Eighth Day. Acoustic singer and songwriter Jude Saya, who is married to Dave Derr, will open the show.
