Linda Baker McIlvaine, retired school teacher
Linda Baker McIlvaine, 75, of Georgetown, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Linda was born in Salisbury, Md., the daughter of the late Elizabeth Brittingham.
She graduated from the University of Delaware with her master's degree in elementary education. She worked for the Claymont School District as a grade-school teacher and later joined her husband establishing his construction company in Georgetown. She enjoyed watching baseball, visiting the beach, and loved watching her grandchildren in their activities. She cherished her family, and loved to entertain them at family dinners and gatherings. She always could be found taking care of her family and others.
Linda is survived by her husband Preston McIlvaine Sr. of Georgetown; her son Thad McIlvaine (Karen) of Lewes; her daughters, Lisa Kingery (Jonathan) of Fair Haven, N.J., and Stacey McIlvaine of Wilmington; her brother Craig Brittingham of Laurel; her beloved grandchildren, Miranda McIlvaine, Lauren Kingery, Jack Kingery and Addison McIlvaine; along with her husband's siblings, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Elizabeth, she is preceded in death by her brother Terry Baker.
A service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W 4th St., Lewes, Friday April 27, at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m. The Rev. Earl Baker will officiate. Interment will be held privately.
