Cape field hockey shuts out Lake 3-0 in Delaware Turf Bowl

Vikings now 6-1, all victories coming by shutout

The Cape field hockey team defeated Lake Forest 3-0 on Oct. 6 in the Delaware Turf Bowl at the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium.

Cape outshot the Spartans 18-0 on the way to improving the season record to 6-1. All of the Vikings’ wins have come by shutout with Marlee Geppert in goal.

In four of the Cape shutouts, the defense allowed zero shots.  

Alia Marshall scored at 16:52 of the first half. Second-half goals were scored by Marcella Sabbagh on a penalty stroke and Jackie Cannon on an assist from Marshall.

Cape will host Indian River at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, then play at Polytech at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11.

The Panthers, under the guidance of Lynn Richardson, are currently undefeated at 7-0, but face a tough Smyrna squad Tuesday.
