Tanger Outlets donates $54K to breast cancer coalition

December 15, 2018

For the 11th year, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has been the local beneficiary of Tanger Outlets’ annual PinkStyle campaign in Rehoboth Beach.

In October, more than 8,000 shoppers purchased a Tanger Pink Card during the campaign in support of the fight against breast cancer in Delaware. Since 2008, shoppers at Tanger Outlets have contributed $585,538 to help fight breast cancer in Delaware.

During a presentation ceremony at Tanger Outlets, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition received a check for $54,222 from the 2018 fundraiser, which will help fund programs at the nonprofit agency. The coalition offers financial assistance, community outreach, education, prosthetics and support for those newly diagnosed or actively fighting breast cancer.

Shoppers who purchased a Tanger Pink Card for $10 in October could save 25 percent in participating outlet stores all month long. The popular program has become a hallmark of the outlet center’s fall season, and many of the shoppers who purchased the cards said they were either breast cancer survivors themselves, or that their close family members had battled the disease.

“This is about community helping community,” said Amy Schnerr, general manager of Tanger Outlets. “By contributing to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, we’re able to see those dollars come full circle to support our friends and neighbors.”
