Continuing Cody’s Crusade clothing drive set Dec. 22
A fourth-generation farmer, Cody Hopkins died at the age of 24 in June 2017 after suffering injuries from a serious vehicle crash.
Cody’s mom, Lori Hopkins, said she takes solace in the dozens of people who were helped following Cody’s death through organ donations.
Looking to continue to give back in Cody’s name, Lori is hosting the inaugural Continuing Cody’s Crusade to benefit The Shepherd’s Office in Georgetown, an adult resource center helping people find clothing, food, shelter and employment.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, at Lazy Susan’s Hot Fat Crabs, Lori will accept warm clothing donations. She said it would have been Cody’s birthday, and she couldn’t think of a better way to spend it.
“He would have been 26. He was the type of kid who would have given the shirt off his back to help others,” she said.
Lori will be accepting lightly worn jackets, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets and nonperishable food items. She said the person who brings in the most will get a $100 gift certificate to Lazy Susan’s, 18289 Coastal Highway, Lewes.
