Sketch crawl at Abbott's Mill Nature Center slated Jan. 13

January 6, 2019

Urban Sketchers Delaware will meet for their monthly sketch crawl from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, at Abbott's Mill Nature Center in Milford.

Abbott’s Mill's Visitor Center has a live animal collection, please-touch displays, and a kids’ corner with puzzles, stuffed animals and large windows to observe nature outdoors. Free parking is available at the visitor center.

Beautiful trails take visitors through lush deciduous and Atlantic white cedar woodlands. Sections of the trail include a handicap-accessible boardwalk that follows a clear coastal plain stream to open meadows, a picnic area and a Garden for Wildlife idea garden. A historic working gristmill and its water source, a 20-acre pond, lend a sense of the rich human history of the area.

The plan is to sketch inside the visitor center. If it is an unseasonably warm January day, the trails and mill outdoors are a joy to sketch.

Urban Sketchers Delaware events are always free and open to all levels. No instruction is provided, but the opportunity to share with other artists is always an advantage of participating. Attendees should bring their own sketching supplies.

Abbott's Mill Nature Center is at 15411 Abbotts Pond Road, Milford. For more information, contact Rosemary Connelly at 302-359-5534 or email rosemary@connelly.net.
