Aging in Place Specialists introduces wellness program

January 7, 2019

Aging in Place Specialists, based in Lewes, announced its newest program to further improve community wellness and access to care.

Aging in Place Specialists was formed to meet the growing need and desire of individuals to remain in their homes as they grow older, by providing in-home physical therapy and home modification services. Now the agency has added a wellness program to serve the community more broadly.

AIPS researches growing needs and services that would be valued by the community, and responds accordingly. A significant amount of people who recover from an injury or condition with physical therapy get discharged and stop doing the activities that made them better. They regress and fall back into old habits that put them in pain again or return them to a weaker condition.

The AIPS Wellness Program, aimed at solving these problems, is a hands-on care and exercise program completely customizable to clients for their level of mobility and fitness. Unlike other fitness or wellness programs, it is overseen by a healthcare professional who comes to a client’s desired location, whether that be home, beach, boardwalk, gym, park or pool.

Owner Kathryn Cieniewicz is excited to see the impact this program will have on prior patients and new ones to the AIPS family. “We had barely launched the program and already had several sign up once they heard about it. They are excited about maintaining their hard-earned strength, balance and mobility levels with us, and we are seeing great results,” said Cieniewicz.

This program is designed for those wishing to maintain or improve their fitness level with the assistance and supervision of a licensed professional, either a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant. Every session is private, one on one, and lasts up to an hour, as tolerated. There are periodic evaluations including the first visit.
