Sussex County councilmen sworn in

Doug Hudson and John Rieley take office to start new year

Sussex County has two new councilmen. Prior to the start of the Jan. 8 meeting, Doug Hudson of Dagsboro, representing District 4, and John Rieley of Millsboro, representing District 5, were sworn in by Judge Richard Stokes.

Hudson, a retired Delaware State Police trooper, is a lifelong resident of Sussex County who has just resigned after serving more than two years on the county planning and zoning commission. Rieley, who moved to the area from upstate New York, has had careers in financial planning and food-service management. He and his wife, Lou Ann, have raised 12 children.

Hudson is replacing George Cole of Ocean View who retired after serving for 32 years. Rieley is replacing Rob Arlett of Frankford who served four years.

District 4 includes southeastern Sussex County and the area around the Inland Bays, including the unincorporated areas around Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Henlopen Acres, Long Neck, Millville, Oak Orchard, Ocean View and Rehoboth Beach.

District 5 includes southern Sussex County, extending from the Maryland line to the Atlantic Ocean, including the unincorporated areas around Dagsboro, Delmar, Fenwick Island, Frankford, Laurel, Millville, Millsboro, Selbyville and South Bethany.

Also sworn in were Sheriff Robert Lee, Register of Wills Cindy Green and Recorder of Deeds Scott Dailey.
