Clothing Our Kids raises funds at Peninsula

Clothing Our Kids held a live and silent auction fundraiser April 4 at the The Peninsula Golf & Country Club in Millsboro. The event, Kicking It Up for Kids – Evening of Jazz and Generosity, featured 1920s-inspired theme music, a silent auction and fine foods. 

The mission of Clothing Our Kids is to improve the lives of at-risk elementary school children by providing them with appropriate school clothing. Clothing Our Kids organization is a local, 100 percent volunteer organization that provides clothing, shoes, and coats to at-risk elementary school children throughout Sussex County at no charge. Clothing Our Kids works exclusively with the school nurses at all 33 Sussex County elementary schools. The nurses are the people most familiar with the family histories of school children.

Founded in Millsboro in 2012, Clothing Our Kids provided approximately 850 items to 150 students that year. Since then, they have provided more than 16,000 kids with more than 90,000 items of clothing.
