SoDel Fest names 2019 beneficiaries

May 15, 2019

The Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival announced it will pour the charitable profits from its 2019 event into the Beau Biden Foundation and Children & Families First.

Returning to the Independence Clubhouse in Millsboro from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, the 5th Annual Southern Delaware Wine, Food & Music Festival will showcase coastal Delaware’s culinary excellence with tastings from more than 20  top restaurants and a live chef throw-down competition alongside exceptional wines, craft beers and spirits.

For organizer Stacy LaMotta, the sweetest part of the event is knowing it serves as a vital fundraiser for area nonprofits. “Helping our community thrive has been my greatest source of pride,” said LaMotta. “I am so grateful to all the sponsors, restaurants, purveyors, volunteers and guests whose participation makes it possible.”

Since 2015, the festival has provided more than $100,000 in funding to support food banks, vaccines, culinary programs, student enrichment, after-school programs and children’s mental health services. This year’s beneficiaries pair together perfectly with their mutual commitment to ensuring all children are safe from abuse and neglect.

Patty Dailey Lewis, Esq., executive director of the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children, said, “The Beau Biden Foundation is thrilled to be a beneficiary of this amazing event. The funds awarded to us from the SoDel Fest will assist the foundation in continuing the mission of Beau Biden, providing education for adults in preventing child abuse and education for students in bullying and in staying safe online.”

Speaking on behalf of Children & Families First, Laura Rimmer said, “Recognizing the immediate and lifelong negative impacts of child abuse and neglect, the generous funding we receive will help ensure our most vulnerable children and their families continue to have free and immediate access to programs and services proven to prevent, intervene and heal.”

Ticket options for the 2019 event include a limited seating opportunity to join in an exclusive champagne tasting one hour before the main festival.
