Browseabout to host author Chris Lindsley and Funland founder Al Fasnacht June 22

June 20, 2019

Author Chris Lindsley will host a conversation with his former boss Al Fasnacht, owner of the iconic Rehoboth Boardwalk amusement park Funland, from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at Browseabout Books.

Lindsley’s newly released book, “Land of Fun: The Story of an Old-Fashioned Amusement Park for the Ages,” chronicles the almost six-decade history of Funland, one of Rehoboth’s most recognized attractions. Funland is noted for retaining the same family-friendly charm since it opened – its five original rides are still up and running.

The book includes insider information such as how the Haunted Mansion was built, behind-the-scenes stories from Funland employees, and much more. The Fasnacht family’s commitment to prioritizing customer experience over profits is evident throughout the book.

Lindsley spent six summers working at Funland in the 1980s. He has since made a career in journalism, writing for national publications, but he credits his time at Funland with the Fasnacht family for helping him establish his work ethic.

At the event, Lindsley will discuss why he wrote “Land of Fun” and ask Fasnacht questions about his life at the helm of the family-run business. Lindsley will sign books after the event.
