Tigers and bears and snakes, oh my! The Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre brings “The Jungle Book” to the stage this season, rotating on the schedule with “The Wizard of Oz” and “Alice in Wonderland” through Thursday, Aug. 22, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.
All of Rudyard Kipling’s imaginative creatures join in the fun for the tale of a lost boy raised by animals in the Indian forest. Baloo the bear, Akela the wolf and Bagheera the panther promise to protect the “man-cub” Mowgli from the prowling tiger, Shere Khan. Kaa the snake and Bandar the monkey add their own brand of humor to the proceedings.
Alyssa Batsakis and Hallie Hargus are the two resident actors who bring all the characters to life in this creative, delightful one-hour version of the timeless classic.
Tickets to all shows are $10. Children under 3 are admitted free. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothchildrenstheatre.org or call 302-227-6766. Epworth UMC is at 19285 Holland Glade Road, one block off Route 1 behind the Royal Farms. There is plenty of free parking.
