Singing on the Rhine with the Cape Gazette while on a European adventure

A week on the river took this delightful bunch of Cape Gazette readers to Cologne, Koblenz, Speyer, Heidelberg, Strasbourg and Colmar.

Seeing castles, cathedrals, medieval towns and vineyards covering miles of hills and valleys was remarkable, but everyone agreed the highlight of the trip was the vinegar tasting at the Weinessiggut Doktorenhof Estate. Yes, vinegar tasting with all its medicinal, spiritual and culinary applications! Of course, the Riesling wine from which the vinegar is made was the star at the Castle Vollrads wine tasting.
