‘Delaware to the Moon’ documentary to premiere Oct. 12

October 9, 2019

Filmmaker Michael Oates, 302 Stories Inc., will introduce his new documentary, “First State, First Step: Delaware to the Moon,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the Delaware Public Archives in Dover.

The public is invited. Admission is free. A panel of historians and experts will answer questions following the screening.

Oates will introduce the film in Sussex County at a screening set for 6:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at the Milton Public Library.

“First State, First Step: Delaware to the Moon" documents the history of Delaware's critical contribution to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing - 50 years ago. DuPont textiles, Gore coated cabling and ILC space suits were all developed in Delaware by committed Delawareans, some of whom are still alive. Their interviews, combined with scholars and historians, provide an insight into how these Delawareans significantly contributed to Delaware history, science and innovation.
