Donate items for survivors of domestic abuse by Dec. 12

December 7, 2019

To raise awareness of domestic violence in Sussex County, the Polka Dot Powerhouse Lewes chapter is collecting items for Sussex County for What Is Your Voice Inc.

“We’re excited to support a local nonprofit that is doing such great work to support survivors of abuse,” said Kari Ainsworth, founder of the Lewes chapter. “Polka Dot Powerhouse encourages all chapters to give back to their communities. We choose a local charity and announce it to our members and encourage them to participate.”

What Is Your Voice Inc. is a nonprofit advocacy and peer support organization providing direct assistance to women and children fleeing domestic violence in Sussex County. The organization addresses emotional and sexual abuse to end the cycle of violence.

To meet the needs of these women and children, What Is Your Voice Inc. operates the Pearl Safe House and resource center in Sussex County. There is an ongoing need for everyday consumable products, including: nonperishable food; women and children’s new socks and new underwear; diapers sizes 5 and 6; paper products and detergents, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, hand-soap toothpaste, toothbrush, floss appliances, new vacuums, gift cards for Walmart and Target, and gas cards for Wawa and Royal Farms.

The public is invited to donate these items through Thursday, Dec. 12, at the following locations: Fairfield Inn by Marriott Rehoboth, Go Glass Lewes and Provident State Bank Lewes.
