Delaware coronavirus cases near 6,500
The Delaware Division of Public Health has announced three additional deaths related to COVID-19. All data reported through this daily update is based on data received as of 6 p.m., May 9.
In total, 224 Delawareans have died due to complications from the coronavirus. Individuals who have died from COVID-19 ranged in age from 22 to 103 years old. Of those who have died, 120 were females and 104 were males. A total of 95 individuals were from New Castle County, 38 were from Kent County and 91 were from Sussex County.
The most recent deaths announced ranged in age from 86 to 100. All three were female. Two were New Castle County residents, one was a Sussex County resident. All three of the individuals had underlying health conditions. Two of the individuals were residents of long-term care facilities.
The latest Delaware COVID-19 case statistics cumulatively since March 11 include:
- 6,447 total positive cases
- New Castle County cases: 2,331
- Kent County cases: 1,016
- Sussex County cases: 3,059
- Unknown County: 41
- Females: 3,508; Males: 2,910; Unknown: 29
- Age range: 0 to 103
- Currently hospitalized: 285; Critically ill: 53
- Delawareans recovered: 2,537
- 24,592 negative cases
