Derrick Harvey named new Milton police chief
Capt. Derrick Harvey has been named the new chief of police in Milton.
Harvey, who has been in the department for 16 years, has been serving as acting chief since March, after the resignation of Chief Robert Longo. Harvey will receive his pin as new chief at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Milton Memorial Park’s gazebo.
Harvey was promoted from lieutenant to captain in June 2019 before being named acting chief. He is also one of the department’s two K-9 officers.
Harvey has been an active member of Milton Volunteer Fire Department since 1998, holding various leadership posts since 2010, including ambulance captain, assistant chief and, since 2018, fire chief.
