Horizon Distributors expands into Mid-Atlantic market

Horizon Distributors Inc., a full-service distributor of landscape and irrigation products and a wholly owned subsidiary of Pool Corporation, recently announced its expansion into the Mid-Atlantic market with the acquisition of the G.L. Cornell Company. Based in Gaithersburg, Md., G.L. Cornell is a distributor of golf course equipment and irrigation products and a provider of equipment services with sales throughout Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

“We look forward to supporting and expanding the current product offerings in the former G.L. Cornell locations to include the full breadth of irrigation, landscape, specialty and professional lawn care equipment products currently available at all Horizon sales centers,” said Jim Ross, Horizon president.

“This transaction expands Pool Corporation’s share of the more than $2 billion irrigation and landscape distribution marketplace by strengthening our presence in the Mid-Atlantic market,” said Manuel Perez de la Mesa, president and CEO of Pool Corporation.

This marks the third acquisition Horizon has made in the past 12 months, following the company’s integration of the Las Vegas-based Turf Equipment Supply Company last December, and the Boynton Beach, Fla.-based Kilpatrick Company Inc. in May.
