COVID case shuts down Lewes City Hall

Lewes City Hall, including the walk-up service window, will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 10, due to a positive COVID-19 case in the building. City hall will also be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Staff will be working remotely. Phones will be answered. City officials say it is planned for city hall to reopen at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. 

Lewes public hearings set Nov. 12

Lewes Mayor and City Council will host two virtual public hearings at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. The first will be on a proposed amendment to the city charter relating to municipal elections. The second is regarding gas-powered landscaping equipment. Materials for both subjects are available on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net. A link to the meeting is also provided. 

Clear Space appeal resumes Nov. 12

The appeal hearing related to the planning commission approval of Clear Space Space Theatre Company’s site plan on three Rehoboth Avenue lots is scheduled to resume at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. The agenda calls for commissioners to consider and decide several preliminary motions. The meeting will be conducted virtually, but there will not be public participation. During a meeting Nov. 9, commissioners also established a new date and time for the portion of the appeal hearing based on merits. The new date is 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30. As of press deadline Monday, Nov. 9, an agenda had not been posted.

Rehoboth advisory tree committee to meet

The Rehoboth Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13. The meeting will be conducted virtually. The agenda calls for further discussion of priorities for 2021, including Arbor Day, commemorative trees and online educational materials.

Members of the public wishing to speak will be required to pre-register at least two days prior to the meeting at awomack@cityofrehoboth.com. Meeting materials are accessible on the city’s portal at cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net.

Rehoboth planning commission to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13. The meeting will be conducted virtually. The agenda calls for preliminary reviews for partitioning requests at 46 Columbia Ave. and of lot 20 on Rehoboth Avenue, which consists of 54 and 56 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda also calls for an update on the comprehensive development plan and a discussion on wireless infrastructure. Members of the public wishing to speak will be required to pre-register with City Secretary Ann Womack at least two days prior to the meeting. Dewey commissioners meet Nov. 13

Dewey Beach commissioners will hold a virtual public hearing and meeting at 12 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13. A public hearing and possible vote will be held to approve an ordinance amending town code relating to bulk standards in all districts. Members will also discuss possible bay beach and Baywalk rules, October financials, the possible donation to the town of a house located at the northwest corner of Bayard Avenue and Cullen Street, as well as the status of committees and committee chairs.

Cape school board meets Nov. 16

The Cape Henlopen school board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16 at Cape High. A possible vote will be taken to set elementary school enrollment areas.
