Beta Sigma Phi chapter honors Barbara Henriksen of Rehoboth
Each year, the members of Xi Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Lewes, vote for the member they feel has best exemplified the attributes of the sorority, and who gave the most time and effort to its activities, fundraisers and programs.
Barbara Henriksen of Rehoboth Beach was selected as the chapter’s Girl of the Year.
Henriksen joined the sorority in 1964 in Bowie, Md., and later transferred to the local chapter after moving to this area. She has held all offices in her chapters, and she recently received an award from the international office for 54 years of perfect attendance at meetings.
Henriksen is active in Epworth United Methodist Church, and she volunteers at the soup kitchen, the New Life Thrift Shop and the Cape Henlopen Food Basket. She is also an avid gardener.
Henriksen has one son, Burr, and two grandchildren. Chapter member Gretta Wolter said Henriksen is a wonderful friend to all, and is very deserving of this honor.
