Anthony T. Hazzard, Army veteran
Anthony T. Hazzard, known to many as “Petey,” 54, of Georgetown passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Born in Milford, he was the son of the late Reginald I. Hazzard, and Betty Lou Hairston Hazzard. He was a member of Welcome Full Gospel Church in Lincoln, where he was chief of security. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving four years in the Army and seven years in the National Guard. He loved sports, was an Eagles fan, and a member of “I am My Brother’s Keeper” Motorcycle Club. He loved traveling, but most of all, he was all about family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Hazzard; and eight children: Anthony Brown and his wife, Tanell of North Carolina, Haywood Burton and his wife Rosetta of Lincoln, Antron Hazzard of Georgetown, Reginald Hazzard of Lincoln, Marcus Hazzard of Lincoln, Marlon Thomas of Smyrna, LaToya Thomas of Georgetown and Whitney Adams of Georgetown. He is also survived by nine siblings: Edna Morris, Reginald Hazzard, Karl Hazzard, Troy Hazzard, Noland Hazzard, Myron Hazzard, Harold Hazzard, Davey Hazzard and Jamie Hazzard. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family across the area.
A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 23115 Slaughter Neck Road; Lincoln, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will be scheduled later for the family. Bishop Jamie Hazzard will officiate. Floral tributes are welcomed.
