Dover churches come together for Good Friday

April 9, 2021

Ministers and parishioners in Dover came together April 2 for a Good Friday cross procession through downtown Dover.

The procession was an effort by Kent Ecumenical and Interfaith local ministerium, which included representatives of Christ Episcopal Church, Wesley and Whatcoat United Methodist Churches, Bayhealth Chaplaincy, John Wesley AME Church and the Presybyterian Church of Dover, among others.

The procession started at Holy Cross Catholic Church, across the street from Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. From there, the group of about 40-50 people walked to Mt. Zion AME Church on North Queen Street, stopping along the way for prayer at various locations.

At Mt. Zion Church, the Rev. Erika Crawford led a final prayer before the crowd dispersed.
