I have known Carolyn Jones since the 1970s when we worked together in Washington, D.C. at Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for the deaf.
Carolyn went on to hold increasingly challenging positions in both the public and private sectors, retiring in 2003 after 20 years at the venerable Smithsonian Institution, capping her career there as human resources director. No one holds that position without having strong people skills and an innate ability not only to listen but to actually hear.
Carolyn’s years of retirement in Lewes have afforded countless opportunities to take leadership and volunteer roles in helping to solve or enhance issues and projects that affect quality of life in our town.
As a member of the Lewes City Council, Carolyn will be a pragmatic, not dogmatic, leader. She will bring an open and keen mind, a big heart, and (in these fraught times) a great good sense of humor.
Whatever more could we ask for or expect in a public servant? Please vote for Carolyn Jones for city council May 8.
