For Memorial Day weekend, the Delaware Department of Transportation will suspend construction-related lane closures from 12:01 a.m., Thursday, May 27, until 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, June 1. Ongoing sustained lane shifts and/or lane closures may still be in effect at certain locations.
Motorists should expect heavy traffic on roads across the state and are encouraged to avoid distractions, follow posted speed limits, and have patience as volume is expected to reach pre-pandemic levels, said Charles “C.R.” McLeod, director of DelDOT community relations.
• DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center and WTMC 1380 AM provide motorists real-time traffic conditions throughout the state. Motorists can contact the center 24 hours a day, seven days a week to report any travel- or traffic-related issues at the following numbers: Dial #77 from cellphone in Delaware; 302-659-4600; or 1-800-324-8379.
• Motorists may adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT’s smartphone application. To download the DelDOT app free, search for “DelDOT” at the Apple and Google Play stores.

• DART's Route 305, Beach Connection, provides service from Wilmington to Rehoboth Beach on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Monday, Sept. 6. Route 305 stops include the Wilmington Transit Center, Christiana Mall, Odessa Park & Ride on Route 299 just off Route 1 in Middletown, Scarborough Road Park & Ride in Dover, South Frederica Park & Ride, Lewes Park & Ride, and Rehoboth Park & Ride.
• DART’s Beach Bus services operate daily, serving from Lewes to Ocean City, Md., and including Georgetown and Millsboro. The service operates from approximately 5 a.m. until 2 a.m. through Sunday, Sept. 12. All buses are air-conditioned, ADA accessible and equipped with bike racks.
Visitors and residents are encouraged to use one of DART’s Park & Ride lots.The Lewes Park & Ride is located on Coastal Highway, just south of Five Points. The Rehoboth Park & Ride is located off Route 1 on Shuttle Road, just north of the entrance to Rehoboth Avenue. Parking is free at both Park & Ride lots, and the bus fare is paid upon boarding.
