O.C.toberfest Takes Center Stage the Weekend Before Halloween in Ocean City
We've been talking alot about southern Delaware's fall festival season over the last few weeks, and we certainly hope you've been able to get out and enjoy some of these great events throughout September and October.
And it's not over yet, with the biggest festival of the season at the Delaware beaches occurring next weekend - and that's the 2021 Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler's Festival.
But this week between the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival and Sea Witch shines the spotlight on nearby Ocean City, Maryland, where a number of great fall events are on the calendar.
You'll definitely notice this theme as you read through today's coming events blog. So pick the event or events that most appeal to you and plan for a great time in Ocean City this weekend, or wherever you happen to be out and about with friends and family.
We begin this week's preview with what is really a number of events all rolled into one, and that's the 2021 O.C.toberfest in Maryland's favorite coastal resort.

O.C.toberfest Festivities (October 23-24)
This is going to be a festival jam-packed with all sorts of different activities and events this year, so let's get right down to it.
Some of the more popular components of Ocean City's O.C.toberfest for 2021 include:
Beach Maze. Located at North Division Street and the Boardwalk, this giant Halloween beach maze will be open on October 23 and 24 and is designed for children of all ages. Expect wicked witches, scary scarecrows, zombies, sand pirates and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sunday. This is a free event.
Drive & Disguise. Scheduled for Saturday, October 23, this is a chance to dress up your vehicle and take part in a special Halloween Parade. Beginning at 3 p.m., the parade will run from 26th Street to the Inlet and be followed by a Trunk or Treat event for the kids.
Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade. Speaking of parades, the pets aren't left out this year as this special event will take place on Saturday, October 23, beginning at 1 p.m. Dress up your pets and have some fun this weekend on the boardwalk. Prizes and surprises will be a part of the day, with donations collected to benefit the Worcester County Human Society. This is also a free event.
Big Toys on the Boardwalk. This unique part of the main event features some of Ocean City's largest and most unusual vehicles lining the walkway to the amusement pier, with overflow into the inlet parking lot. "Toys" will include construction equipment, emergency vehicles, racing boats, muscle cars and even a helicopter. This is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., on Sunday, October 24.
Great Pumpkin Race. One of the wackier parts of O.C.toberfest, this event allows participants to build thier own pumpkin cars and race them against other entrants. Held in down hill, side-by-side fashion, this event will feature awards in different divisions, including creativity. The event is planned for Sunday, October 24, with registration beginning an hour before the 1 p.m. race time.
Drive-In Movie. A special showing of the film "Casper" will begin at 7 p.m., on Saturday, October 23, at the inlet parking lot. The movie is free, but parking fees are still in effect, so be sure to plan for that. Audio for the movie will be through speakers and will also be available via FM radio.
Shore Craft Beer Fest (October 23)
Also part of a big October weekend in fabulous Ocean City, this year's Shore Craft Beer Fest is planned for Saturday, October 23, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., in the resort's Sunset Park.
More than 40 great local beers will be available at the event, along with live music, plenty of refreshments via local food trucks and much more.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Ocean City Development Corporation, which is tasked with revitalizing the downtown areas of the resort.

Rehoboth Museum Beach Ball (October 23)
This event from the folks at the Rehoboth Beach Museum will once again be held in a revised format in 2021, but is still scheduled for Saturday, October 23.
There's no gathering planned for 2021, but participants can still enjoy a take-out dinner from King's Creek Country Club, as well as an online auction and music from Junior Wilson & Chatty.
This is an annual event that helps to support the operations at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, located on Rehoboth Avenue near the canal.
