CHEF Winter Jam moves to spring

16th annual event supports Cape students and teachers with grant funds
December 24, 2021

The Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation’s signature fundraising event, Winter Jam, will relaunch as Spring Jam in 2022.

At the Dec. 9 school board meeting, Superintendent Bob Fulton said the event will be held Friday, May 20, in tents on the grounds of the Virden Center in Lewes.

This isn’t the first time CHEF has shifted gears during the pandemic to hold the popular fundraiser that supports district teachers and students.

The 2021 Winter Jam was a virtual event streamed live from Mid South Audio recording studio in Milton, featuring entertainment by Blue Label Band, an appearance by country music star and Cape High grad Jimmie Allen, and a virtual live auction.

With funds raised at Winter Jam, CHEF awards teacher grants for unbudgeted classroom projects, and provides support for homeless and limited-income students, STEM initiatives, field trips, performing arts education and training, and programs to promote diversity and inclusion.

Since 2006, CHEF has contributed about $200,000 in grant funds for teachers and students. For more information, go to chef-cape.org.
