Lois C. Wills, loved the seashore
Lois C. Wills, 94, of Lewes passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022. She was born in Norristown, Pa., Nov. 20, 1927, daughter of the late Catherine Dambly and Durell Webster.
Lois graduated from Norristown High School and spent her early years in the Norristown and Skippack, Pa. areas. In 1960, she married her beloved husband, Bill Wills, and they lived in King of Prussia and later Wayne, Pa. They enjoyed a beautiful summer home in Cape May, N.J., where they joyfully moved full time upon retirement. While living in King of Prussia, Lois and Bill owned and operated William E. Wills Real Estate, which was a successful and well-known business in the community. Lois obtained her broker’s license and supported her husband within the business throughout the years.
Lois was a devoted mother throughout the years and provided a childhood to her daughters, Carol and Pam, of all things that dreams are made of, never missing a game and always cheering on from the stands with Bill by her side! She enjoyed all things coastal, golf and travel. She spent many special times with loved ones in Cape May, N.J., and the Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Charleston, S.C. areas.
Upon moving to Cape May permanently, Lois spent many of her most favorite days enjoying family, the beach, golf, bike riding, and could often be seen walking her beloved cat Tiki. Many longtime friendships were enjoyed during those years. As an active member of the Cape May Lutheran Church, Lois especially enjoyed her time spent in the choir with an occasional solo or duet to accompany the service.
In 2007, Lois made the move across the bay to The Moorings at Lewes (formally Cadbury at Lewes) and was one of the original residents. She was an active member of the community and spent many years as a wing representative, always working hard to welcome new members and to enrich the lives of those currently residing on the campus. Lois was loved and respected by residents and staff alike.
In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her stepfather, Herman H. Dambly (1999); her husband, William E. Wills Jr. “Bill” (1989); her daughter, Carol A. Mercer (2007); and her beloved Siamese cats: Mai Tai and Tiki (living to 21 years).
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. Wills “Pam” of Sun City West, Ariz.; and her son-in-law, Edward Mercer of Rock Hall, Md.
A graveside service will be held at Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Valley Forge, Pa., and will be announced at a later date to allow for weather.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
A special thank you to the Seasons-AccentCare hospice team for providing excellent care, and accompanying Lois and family through the final journey. Words cannot express our appreciation.
