Coral Lakes hearing on Sussex P&Z agenda

Included on the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission’s Thursday, Jan. 27 agenda are several applications in the Cape Region.

A public hearing is scheduled for Coral Lakes, a 315 single-family home lot cluster subdivision on 152 acres on the southwest side of Robinsonville Road near Lewes across from the Chase Oaks subdivision, which is under construction.

The commission is expected to vote on the following under old business: Autumndale, 104 single-family home lots on 74 acres on the south side of Hollyville Road near Harbeson; Turnberry, 196 single-family home lots on 135.5 acres on the east and southeast side of Hollyville Road near Harbeson; and Miralon, 144 single-family home lots on 72 acres on the northeast side of Cool Spring Road near Lewes. Lewes bike and ped meets Jan. 25

The Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The group will receive an update on the Delaware Bicycle Council grant for the Lewes Loop Low-Stress Bikeway.

They will also discuss signage on Savannah Road, safety on Cedar Street and a possible recommendation to city council regarding the use of e-bikes on trails within the city.

Lewes Public Art group meets Jan. 26

The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet virtually at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26.

Lewes Board of Health meets Jan. 26

The Lewes Board of Health will meet virtually at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26. The group will discuss the current state of COVID in Lewes and throughout Delaware. A link can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net.

Lewes Board of Public Works meets Jan. 26

The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet virtually at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26.

The group will discuss an emergency funding resolution for the wastewater treatment plant, award the bid for the Savannah Road sewer extension project, discuss a BPW policies update, receive an update on the Donovan Smith Mobile Home Park water/sewer project, and discuss a request from resident Rick Quill. Lewes finance meeting set Jan. 27

The Lewes Finance Committee will meet virtually at noon, Thursday, Jan. 27.

The group will review the city’s financial statements and investments, continue discussion on short-term rentals and city fees and charges, and review the staff-proposed draft budget for fiscal year 2023.

Lewes code of conduct committee meets Jan. 27

The Lewes Ad Hoc Committee for the Review of the Code of Conduct will meet virtually at 9 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 27.

Dewey audit  group meets Jan. 26

The Dewey Beach Audit Committee will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26. After the agenda is adopted, the committee will go into executive discussion of non-public documents before reconvening in public discussion to possibly vote to recommend an auditing firm to town commissioners. Dewey investment group meets Jan. 27

The Dewey Beach Investment Committee will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27. The town manager will present financial needs and planning information for 2022, and Brown Advisory will present a portfolio review. Members will possibly vote on new investments for the portfolio and on recommended changes to the investment policy. A link to the meeting is available at townofdeweybeach.com.

Construction hours changed for Arbor-Lyn

At its Jan. 13 meeting, Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously voted to amend a construction hours condition placed on Schell Brothers’ Arbor-Lyn subdivision along Warrington Road between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Construction hours were changed to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday. Schell attorney Jonathan Horner made the request to change the start time from 8 a.m. to 7 a.m. to mirror the hours at all other Schell housing projects. Signs designating the hours and construction traffic access must be posted in English and Spanish. “Allowing earlier work hours will relieve traffic during rush hours while also allowing our workforce to maximize their productivity,” Horner said.

Eastern Sussex Dems to meet Jan. 27

Eastern Sussex Democrats invites Delaware voters to attend its meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, via Zoom. Sustainable Development and Environmental Stewardship in Sussex County will be the topic.

Manufactured home owners meet Feb. 28

Delaware Manufactured Home Owners Association will hold a general membership meeting on Zoom and in person at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28, at Angola Beach & Estates Clubhouse, 22971 Suburban Blvd., Lewes.
