James Kevin Boothe, loved the water

January 26, 2022

James Kevin Boothe (Kevin), 51, of Selbyville, peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan 21, 2022, surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Kevin was born March 5, 1970, to Charles Boothe and Ruth Land. After Kevin graduated from Eufaula High School in 1988, he spent some time at Auburn University, and eventually found his calling serving the public as a police officer. Kevin eventually moved to Maryland where he continued to work in law enforcement. Being a police officer was a passion of Kevin’s and he felt he made a difference.

In 2010, Kevin met his wife, Kelli Davey of Salisbury, Md. Kevin and Kelli married in 2013 in the islands. They were a blended family with six children.

Kevin retired from law enforcement in 2010 and started Guard Dog Security and a limo company. He joined Kelli in expanding Delmar Assisted Living in 2011. He went on to build Delmar Villa and Delmar Estates with Kelli. Kevin had a passion for helping people and enjoyed his work.

Kevin’s love in life was his wife, his kids, and the water. He spent much of his time on the water traveling throughout South Florida, the Keys, and the Bahamas. This is where Kevin was his happiest and felt free. Even during Kevin’s sickest days, he would find a way to get on the boat and escape the reality of cancer.

Kevin was predeceased by his father, Charles Boothe. He is survived by his wife, Kelli Davey; his daughters, Taylor Boothe, Emma Boothe, and Megan Davey; and his sons, Ryan Davey, Hunter Davey, and Jack Davey. Kevin’s children meant the world to him. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at Brew River, Salisbury, Md. There will be a service followed by a celebration of life. Kevin’s wishes were for the service to be kept light-hearted.
