Ocean City Film Festival Headlines Early March Coastal Events Calendar

March 2, 2022

As the calendar flips to March, all eyes turn to spring and the warmer temperatures soon to come. And this means many more things are going to start happening, particularly on the weekends.

And that's what our Weekender blog has been about for the last seven years, keeping all of you informed on the great weekend entertainment options in Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City, Bethany Beach and all of the other great towns at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

St. Patrick's Day is generally the time each year when things start picking up and that looks to be the case again in 2022. But while the celebration of all things Irish is still officially a couple of weeks away, there's at least one nearby city that's getting a jump on the festivities this year.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Oyster Fest both take center stage this weekend in Annapolis. If you feel like taking the trek across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, these should be a couple of fun events for the whole family.

Back at the beaches, we have events to tell you about in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Milton, Ocean City and more.

Temperatures look to be on the mild side for this weekend, so head outdoors and make it a weekend to remember at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Here's what's on tap for the weekend of March 4-6 in the coastal region...

Ocean City Film Festival (March 3-6)

After a virtual event in 2021, the Ocean City Film Festival returns to theaters this year for four special days of independent films and special events.

Held at venues throughout Ocean City and Berlin, this is the sixth year for the film festival and is a collaboration between the resort and the Art League of Ocean City.

Films for 2022 cover multiple genres and total 100 in number. Animated films, feature length films, short documentaries, horror films, science fiction films and dramatic shorts will all be shown at this year's festival.

Each of the festival's four days features something different. Here's a breakdown:

  • Thursday, March 3 - The 2022 festival kicks off with a night of locally produced films and an opening night party. The location is the Ocean City Performing Arts Center at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.
  • Friday, March 4 - Day two's events will be held at the Ocean City Center for the Arts on 94th Street Bayside. The day features a day of films, followed by an evening reception.
  • Saturday, March 5 - Day three features a day of films and a happy hour reception at Ocean Downs Casino in Berlin.
  • Sunday, March 6 - Sunday's location is Morley Hall at Seacret's, with a day of films and a closing ceremony.

Ticket prices are $20 for a day, $25 for access to any of the parties or $99 for all access passes that include entry to all films, parties and workshops, as well as an extra week to stream all of this year's featured films online.
