Avatar Instruments Inc., a leading manufacturer of SCR power controllers and systems, hosted U.S. Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., for a visit at its Lewes facility Aug. 17.
Blunt Rochester met with Avatar Instruments President Paul Evalds and other employees to learn about the company, discuss the problems the pandemic created for businesses, and exchange ideas about the current state of manufacturing.
Evalds presented the challenges Avatar is experiencing with supply chain shortages and how severe the impact is on small businesses, especially within the industrial manufacturing sector. Blunt Rochester discussed the work she recently contributed on the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 to help resolve some supply chain issues. They discussed the importance of manufacturing in the United States and shared ideas on what could be done to support the industry.
After meeting with Evalds, Blunt Rochester toured the facility, spoke with other employees about supply issues, learned what SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) power controls are, and watched a high-voltage product test.
