Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

October 19, 2022

One week before the biggest festival of the year in Rehoboth Beach, we head a few miles south to Maryland's favorite playground of Ocean City for that resort's popular autumn Sunfest festival.

Next week may be Seawitch Weekend in Rehoboth Beach, but this week Ocean City is in the spotlight for four days between Thursday, October 20 and Sunday, October 23.

But Sunfest is only the tip of the iceberg this weekend as we have more than a dozen great events and happenings to tell you about throughout Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

We begin, however, with all of the fun and excitement of Sunfest...

Ocean City Sunfest (October 20-23)

Ocean City throws one of the biggest parties of the year over the next few days, as the multi-day Sunfest event returns with plenty of musical entertainment, kid’s activities, great food and much more.

This year’s headliners include Starship, the Reagan Years, the Fabulous Hubcaps, Monkee Paw and several more.

As always, the festival is free to attend, though tickets are required for headline acts.

Hours for this year’s event are Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events are held at the Ocean City Inlet parking area, adjacent to the city’s world-famous boardwalk.

Lewes Fall Craft Fair (October 22-23)

The Lewes Historical Society hosts this annual fall event at its campus on Shipcarpenter Street in the resort's downtown business district.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on both Saturday and Sunday, scheduled activities include live music from the Lewesers, the Kindred Spirits, Ampersand and the Jazzmen, as well as pumpkin painting, plenty of food choices, tours of the campus and dozens of artisans and vendors.

Tickets are $5 with proceeds being used to support the good work being done at the Lewes Historical Society.

Hopkins Preserve Kickoff Celebration (October 22)

The Sussex County Land Trust and the Sussex County Council invite the public to this event that officially unveils the master plan for the preserve.

Homestead Bluegrass Band will be providing live music during the event, which also features food trucks, local craft beer, face painting, corn hole, a sunset bonfire and more.

The celebration is scheduled to run from 4 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Preserve on Sweet Briar Road in Lewes.
