Roughly 1,500 people participated Nov. 6 in the Southern Delaware Heart Walk in Rehoboth Beach, raising approximately $250,000.
The annual Southern Delaware Heart Walk supports the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, whose mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Bayhealth interventional cardiologist Dr. Roberto Scaffidi served as chair of the event.
The walk featured a 3.1-mile walk in Rehoboth Beach, important information on heart health and stroke prevention, sponsor resources and giveaways, healthy fruits and snacks, and entertainment.

Raising more than $10,000, participant Tomie Morse was the event’s top individual fundraiser. Her team from Morse Roofing and Siding joined her during the event.
Dressed as the Queen of Hearts, Kim Linkous joins her Bayhealth coworkers for a team photo before the walk.
Like many of the walkers, Vic Holston was there to support another person, in this case his loving wife Karen.
The walk is one of the few events where there’s a group-wide warm-up before the event. Joined by her daughter Lia, Bayhealth’s Brittany Newman leads the way.
Proudly wearing their survivor hats are Carol Priestley and Alice Nagle. They were joined by fellow survivors Patricia Miller and Angela McNelia.
