Sussex Family YMCA announces new executive director
The YMCA of Delaware recently announced the hiring of LoriKay Paden as community vice president and executive director of the Sussex Family YMCA.
In her new role, Paden will lead the Sussex Family Y on Church Street in Rehoboth Beach, and will also provide leadership support to the Dover YMCA.
Paden said her mission is to teach, lead and inspire individuals, groups and organizations. Most recently, she served as senior executive director at the YMCA of Western North Carolina. There, she managed the association’s healthy living department for seven branches, the operations of three branches, and the community health department.
“The opportunity to join this incredible team excites me to no end,” said Paden. “To see the Y’s impact throughout the state is awe-inspiring. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to help improve outcomes for our members and communities.”
For the past 32 years, Paden has served in leadership roles in the public, private and nonprofit recreation sectors to develop successful wellness programs and services. Her past and ongoing experience of consulting for agencies and directly managing large facilities, services, programs, events and employees has given her insight and knowledge that enlightens and inspires others to achieve excellence in their areas of expertise.
“The YMCA of Delaware is committed to transforming communities across the state, and delivering our mission starts with our talented, caring and dedicated staff,” said Linda Risk, YMCA of Delaware chief operating officer. “LoriKay brings high energy and decades of experience leading organizations and YMCAs to successful outcomes and impact. She is committed to improving individual and community wellness, supporting family and economic stability, and continuing to build bridges that connect people from different ZIP codes – all essential to making sure we fulfill our Delaware promise.”
Outside the Y, Paden is celebrating 33 years of marriage to her husband Jimmy Paden. They have two children in the Mid-Atlantic region. In her free time, she loves to explore fun restaurants and spend time outside, running, biking and walking.
