Cape Henlopen Elks present donations to veterans organizations

The Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 veterans committee recently donated to support organizations benefiting those who have served in the military.

Stockings for Soldiers received $1,000 toward its effort to send holiday greetings to brave young men and women in uniform serving their country around the world. Over the course of 20 years, Stockings for Soldiers team leaders and volunteers have sent 143,000 personalized stockings filled with goodies and good cheer.

The Elks presented a total of $1,000 in gift cards in $50 denominations to the Home of the Brave which strives to reduce homelessness among the military veteran population. In addition to providing transitional housing, food and security, Home of the Brave assists with employment, counseling services, access to healthcare, transportation and locating affordable housing. The goal is to help veterans successfully transition into permanent housing and personal independence.
