As a Cape Henlopen High School graduate and daughter of a retired Cape public school teacher, I fully support a yes vote in the Tuesday, March 26, Cape Henlopen School District referendum. I was fortunate to attend Rehoboth Elementary, Rehoboth Junior High and graduate from Cape Henlopen High school, where I was provided a quality education, as did many of my friends and family. My mother Angie “Miss Kramedas” Watkins loved teaching so many of you in Lewes at Shields Elementary, and to this day, she may remind you, “Now, honey, you owe me three book reports!” So many of you are truly Cape proud!
After attending last week’s information session in Lewes, it was clear some have a variety of concerns. Superintendent Bob Fulton, Assistant Superintendent Jenny Nauman and many others directly involved in our school system have been readily accessible to answer questions. Being so close to the beach where we employ lifeguards at our beaches and pools, introducing our children in the community to learn to swim, providing a facility for a swim team, lessons and public space, a natatorium seems more than appropriate.
This will achieve an overall benefit to the Cape students, teachers, parents, grandparents and community members as well. I am confident if this passes, the engineers and designers will provide a thoughtful design, with much public input. We need to be present Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. for your support. Please consider this referendum and support our Cape community.
