Simpler makes pitch to District 14 voters

October 1, 2024

I am Mike Simpler, your candidate for Delaware’s House of Representatives. I’m honored to have been nominated and now running for District 14 right here in our beautiful coastal Sussex County. As a native of this area, a Cape Henlopen High School graduate and devoted husband to my lovely wife Kim, I understand our community’s strong values and mutual support. Kim and I are raising a blended family here filled with love, laughter and, yes, even a mini-golden doodle named Isla, in the area we’ve called home for decades. It would be the honor of my life to serve as your voice soon in Dover.

In my role as president of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company and as a dedicated employee at Beebe Healthcare, I’ve seen firsthand the various challenges our families face. I’ve committed my life to service: coaching Little League, founding the Rehoboth Beach Sportsplex, and passionately supporting Special Olympics, a terrific and worthy organization for my son with special needs to thrive and learn.

I’ve fortunately been inspired by many across the political spectrum – Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike – all of whom are calling for someone in Dover who puts all citizens’ needs first. I’m humbled that folks from all political parties, and from every part of coastal Sussex, are now supporting me as their choice for a reasoned and contributing voice in our state House.

Having spent my entire life here, I know the issues, I know our people, and I will fight for responsible solutions if you entrust me with your vote. My guiding principles come from lessons learned here – from my teachers, my colleagues and my community, while growing up and raising my family here. I’ll take our coastal Sussex values and strengths to Dover, ensuring your voice is heard effectively above the noise, and where we can be an example for sensible approaches for the rest of Delaware!

My commitment to you:

  1. Economic opportunity: I will work tirelessly to attract high-quality jobs and sustainable growth, creating an environment where innovation flourishes and everyone has the chance to thrive
  2. Education: I pledge to prioritize our educational resources, equipping our youth with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving world
  3. Environment: I will lead initiatives for responsible planning and development, ensuring our natural beauty and vital resources are preserved for future generations
  4. Healthcare: I will advocate for improved access to quality healthcare, supporting our families and strengthening our communities as we move forward
  5. Smarter growth: I will promote development that respects our infrastructure needs, alleviates traffic congestion and enhances the quality of life for all residents.

Please join me! Let’s build coastal Sussex’s future together, so every voice matters and every citizen thrives. I humbly ask for your trust and support. Please vote Mike Simpler Tuesday, Nov. 5, or cast your absentee ballot early now.
