Chamber recognizes Pete Schwartzkopf for years of service
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce recognized Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf during its monthly membership luncheon Oct. 16.
Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, is in his final days of being an elected official. He’s been representing House District 14 since 2002.
Schwartzkopf briefly addressed local business leaders and city officials in attendance. For the most part, he said, he thought he got along well with the chamber and its members.
“It’s been a good relationship,” he said.
A former lifeguard and retired state police captain, Schwartzkopf said, outside of law enforcement issues, he was naive about many concerns when he decided to run for office. Now, two decades later, and a combined 53 years of public service, he’s proud of what he’s been able to accomplish.
Following his remarks, chamber CEO and President Carol Everhart presented Schwartzkopf a plaque with “Delaware State Champion” across the top. Under his name, the plaque reads, “What does it take to be a champion? Desire, dedication, determination, concentration, and the will to win.”
The chamber’s next luncheon is scheduled for noon, Wednesday, Nov. 13. Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson is expected to be the speaker.
