Cape Henlopen thespians presented "Chicago: Teen Edition" at the high school theater March 13-16.
The play is based on the book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, and music by John Kander. "Chicago: Teen Edition" is a version of the musical "Chicago" adapted for a teenage cast and audience. The play focuses on the story of Roxie Hart, a young woman on trial for murder, and her journey with the other inmates exploring themes of fame, fortune and the corrupt justice system in Chicago.
The play is directed by Sadie Andros and Marian Sunnergren. The pit band is directed by Elly Rolfes.
“I am so proud of the students,” said Andros. “They worked so hard and did such an incredible job. The audience each night was wonderful and really seemed to love the show.”
“Watching the performance, I forgot the actors are teenagers,” said one night’s attendee. “They were so professional. It was awesome.”
