The 18th annual Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, at the Historic Lewes Town Campus, 110 Shipcarpenter St. The event will take place rain or shine.
More than 70 artists will showcase their sea glass and coastal-themed artworks including jewelry, home decor, wood and metal sculpture, ceramics, photography and painting.
Shard identification experts from the Delmarva Antique Bottle Club will be on site both days to help attendees discover the origin and history of their sea glass pieces. Club members also will display and sell collections of antique bottles and glassware. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to walk through a collection of more than 5,000 pieces of sea glass, and learn from the educational displays and exhibits.
Hourly glass-blowing demonstrations will reveal how glass manufacturing has changed throughout history, and there will be live music, engaging family activities and food options each day.
Throughout the weekend, there will be educational presentations from local and regional experts.
Saturday attendees can explore a fascinating display of Native American artifacts, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage, and watch skilled artisans demonstrate the ancient craft of flint knapping, used to create stone tools and weapons.
Children 12 and under are admitted free.
