Peggy Warfield joins Gallery One in Ocean View

Artwork adds contemporary style to gallery
June 16, 2012

Originally from Baltimore, Md., Peggy Warfield moved to Ocean City, Md., 41 years ago with her husband, Bob. In her first life, she was a teacher of high school English and remedial reading.

She took the step into the world of art as a watercolorist and a decade later found her love of collage after a workshop with Gerald Brommer, a nationally known watercolor and collage artist. Since then she has been "seeking, gathering, organizing, tearing, altering, arranging, adhering, overpainting, enriching and finishing." This is the essence of the layerist.

Her themes reflect what is around her - the marsh, the coastal bay, the sea and sand, the summer garden, the winter's branches, the wren's nest, home.

She has studied under nationally known collage and abstract artists. Professional memberships include the Art League of Ocean City, the Center for the Arts of Bonita Springs, Fla., and the National Collage Society.

Warfield joins 16 other local artists and a select group of fine crafters. The gallery is open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week; it is staffed by one of the artists and is located at 32 Atlantic Ave. (Route 26) in Ocean View.
