DMV on the Go mobile unit serves Lewes, Milton and Seaford

The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles announced DMV on the Go is open for the warmer season.

The mobile unit will operate in Sussex County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., three days a week through Thursday, Oct. 30.

It will be at DART’s Lewes Transit Center Mondays, at 17616 Coastal Highway, Lewes.

DMV on the Go will be at Milton CHEER Center Tuesdays, at 24855 Broadkill Road, Milton, and at the Harbor Freight Shopping Center (previously Big Lots) Thursdays, at 900 Norman Eskridge Hwy., Seaford.

“We’ve seen Delaware’s population grow significantly within recent years, especially in Sussex County,” said Shanté Hastings, Delaware Department of Transportation secretary. “The mobility of DMV on the Go allows us to not only expand our services to the underserved areas of Sussex County, but also reduce wait times at the Georgetown DMV, which has quickly become one of our busiest locations.”

“With DMV on the Go’s fourth season officially underway, we’ve already seen an increase in customers in just the first month,” said Amy Anthony, Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles director. “So far, we’ve had 710 transactions in April, further showing how great of an asset this mobile unit is to DMV and especially for our residents living or working in Sussex County.”

The DMV on the Go is an ADA-accessible trailer that features four fully functional workstations. It comes complete with an awning for bad weather and a wheelchair lift, and it performs all transactions as a traditional DMV, excluding inspections and road exams. Uninsured motorists and those needing in-person driver improvement assistance still need to visit the Georgetown, Dover, Delaware City or Wilmington DMV locations.

Last year, the DMV on the Go trailer assisted more than 3,100 customers by allowing them to renew their registrations and driver licenses, complete title work and more, right in their neighborhoods.

To access other DMV services, customers can complete more than 20 transactions online at mydmv.delaware.gov including Delaware driver license, identification and vehicle registration renewals, duplicates and address changes.
