The NBA postseason is coming down to the end. There are only three teams still alive to win it. It will be historical either way. The Oklahoma City Thunder have cruised through the Western Conference to their second ever finals appearance. In the Eastern Conference, it’s between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks and as of now the Pacers have a 3-2 lead in the series. The Pacers will have a chance to win the series at home on Saturday night. If they win the NBA championship, it will be their first ever in the NBA. They won once in the old ABA before the merger in 1976. If the Knicks come back to win the Eastern Conference series it will be their first time in the finals after a full regular season since 1994. The finals will start on June 5 on ABC TV.
The French Open tennis tournament has begun. I was surprised how well Novak Djokovic is playing in the first two rounds because he had been struggling for most of this year. Carlos Alcaraz from Spain has also been playing very well and he is the favorite to win the tournament. At least three American men are still playing ; Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, and Sebastian Kara. Tiafoe and Kara play against each other in the next round. On the women’s side, American's Coco Gauff and Madison Keys are still playing as well.
It could be a great weekend in local high school sports. Cape Henlopen is in the finals in girls lacrosse. They are the favorite to win the state championship. They play Tower Hill on Saturday at Ceasar Rodney high school. The Cape boys lacrosse team will play Salesianum for their state championship as well, right after the girls game at the same location. The baseball team is in the semifinals against Salesianum which will be played today at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington! Go Vikings!
