Lana Miller Parker, longtime nurse, volunteer

June 17, 2025

Lana Miller Parker, 73, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025. Born Aug. 6, 1951, Lana was the daughter of the late John Ralph Miller and Edna Schaffner Miller. Lana was raised in Cambridge, Md., and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1969. She then attended Beebe School of Nursing, graduating in 1972, and had a nursing career that spanned 45 years.

Lana met and married her beloved husband, David, in 1972. Together, they raised their two children and had many fun adventures, often involving racing.

Lana’s number one priority was her children. She was a devoted and supportive mother and was almost always seen at their activities. From baseball games to softball games, soccer games to pageants, academic activities, or band, Lana was always present.

The true joy of Lana’s life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughters, watching her grandsons bowl and play baseball, and giving them all a card and often a themed, small gift for every holiday.

Lana was a committed volunteer for several young women’s pageantry and scholarship organizations, and was also an active member of St. John’s Church in Georgetown. She impacted many lives and was truly a treasure to her family and the community.

In addition to her parents, Lana was preceded in death by her brother, R. Leslie Miller; and her in-laws, R. Alfred and Jean Parker.

Lana is survived by husband, David; her sisters, Wendy Wright (Jimmy) and Patricia Knox (John); her children, Brian Parker (Casey) and Aimee Parker Mumford (Walter); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brzezowski, Macie Mumford, Zachary Parker and Parker Mumford; her sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law, April Eskridge (Jesse), Laura Parker, and Chris Parker (Lisa); several beloved nieces and nephews and extended family; her treasured St. John’s church family; and cherished friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 20, at St. John’s Church, 22179 Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown, with a time of visitation starting at 11 a.m. Burial will be held immediately following the service at St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. John’s Church, 22910 Park Ave., Georgetown, DE 19947, or Distinguished Young Women of Delaware, 22949 Dennis Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966.
