Kiwanis awards scholarship to Troop 95 Eagle Scout
At Troop 95’s Court of Honor held May 15, Georgetown Kiwanis Club Secretary Holland VanValkenburg presented the 2025 Merit Scholarship to Dilargino Tapia.
A Troop 95 Eagle Scout and Sussex Tech graduate, Tapia completed a three-year program of career technical education studies in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. He will be attending a local college this fall, focusing on earning a business degree.
Boy Scout Troop 95 has had a long-standing relationship with the Georgetown Kiwanis Club. In collaboration with Troop 95, the club established the Merit Scholarship award to include a monetary prize of $500. The Merit Scholarship’s goal is to recognize the achievements of a Troop 95 member who is graduating from a Sussex County high school.
Applicants submit an essay and complete a one-page form. Essays must be at least 500 words and should address how the Merit Scholarship will help applicants reach their career goals.
