Beach cleanup and fundraiser benefit Center for Inland Bays

July 6, 2025

To honor World Oceans Day June 8, Big Chill Beach Club hosted a community beach cleanup followed by a dine-to-donate event, raising around $500 in support of the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays.

Volunteers gathered at Delaware Seashore State Park’s South Inlet to remove trash from the beach and parking lots, and along the Indian River Inlet. The most collected items included cans, plastic products, cigarette butts and fishing line, highlighting ongoing threats to coastal wildlife and water quality.

Afterward, participants and supporters headed to Big Chill for the fundraiser.

“We are always proud to support the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and the important work they do to protect our coastal ecosystems,” said Emily Burns, marketing coordinator for Big Chill Beach Club. “This event was a great example of community spirit in action.”

Big Chill Beach Club and the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays thank all those who participated in making the day a success. Events like this demonstrate how local action can help preserve the natural beauty of Delaware’s coastline. For more information about the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, visit inlandbays.org.
