Dave Grohl lunches in Lewes
Come for the fish, stay for the rock star.
Rock star Dave Grohl, drummer for Nirvana and frontman of the Foo Fighters, enjoyed lunch July 29 at Lewes Oyster House on Second Street.
Brayden Ostan, the restaurant’s assistant general manager, said Grohl came in with seven others and were seated at the chef’s table.
“He had a couple of Downeast Ciders, a shrimp po’ boy and a Caesar side salad,” said Ostan, who added that they didn’t recognize Grohl at first, but a buzz quickly blazed through the restaurant. “It was a really cool experience,” he said.
Ostan said Grohl was happy to pose for photos with his server, Amanda Deal and another employee – Amanda Montivani – which the restaurant posted on Facebook.
Ostan said other celebrities have dined at Lewes Oyster House, including David Chalian from CNN and chef Anne Burrell.
Grohl also stopped into Kids’ Ketch, just down the block.
Ostan said Grohl knows the owners of the former Fork & Flask in Rehoboth. The three-time Grammy award-winner has been a frequent visitor to Delaware beaches over the years to visit family.
